The break was short-lived as Tenthirteen went back out to the Middle East to cover two of the region’s biggest football cup finals for the 4th year running, the Qatar Cup and the Emir Cup. Played over a 3-week period in May, we were there for pretty much the entire period assisting with cameras, HD RF Downlinks and communications, permissions and ensuring that the best possible aerial coverage was achieved to give the Outside Broadcast (OB) Director the greatest variety of shots for the show. We were over the moon that a faultless transmission was achieved along with a number of bonus shots for the broadcaster to use as channel idents in the future.
June has seen us in pre-production for another world first. We will be off to China sometime soon to do some aerial filming for Chinese broadcaster, CCTV, on the Tibetan Plateau. It is part of a massive series that is 4 years in the making. Nobody has achieved this before and we feel privileged to have been asked to be involved in such a massive and exciting undertaking. This is the first of what will, hopefully, be three shoots for us in China this year. We will keep you updated on all the news from those shoots as and when they happen.
